After a long day of work, I treated myself to some evening birding out at
Swan Lake (located just 3 miles south of Carroll). The skies and water
were brimming with life! Along the lake's western edge, I spotted Lesser
Yellowlegs galore, 3 Long-Billed Dowitchers, at least one Spotted
Sandpiper, 6 Wilson's Snipe, a Belted Kingfisher, and 2 Black-Crowned
Night Herons. In the skies above the same area, I saw a Broad-Winged Hawk
and an Osprey, and was able to watch as a Great-Horned Owl was being
chased by a mob of Crows. As I walked along the marsh that lays adjacent
to the lake's southernmost tip, I heard a Sora. While walking through the
park yesterday, I saw a Blue-Gray Gnatcatcher and heard a House Wren
singing his tiny little heart out.

Happy Birding To All!!
