At Dunbar Slough (Greene County) today, we found over 1,200 American Golden Plovers. The largest collection was along B Avenue, north of Highway E57, and to the west of B Avenue. Golden Plovers were at almost every body of water at Dunbar. And the northern two bodies of water are being drained, so good habitat for shorebirds should remain for awhile.

At Bay's Branch, low water levels also produced shorebird habitat, but not much variety, other than about 225 Pectoral Sandpipers and 5 Long-billed Dowitchers.

At a wet area on Richland Avenue, just south of Highway 6 in Dallas County, there were 3 Dunlin and 1 Baird's Sandpiper in the morning, but they were gone this evening.
