Vicky and Mike Stephens, Tom Johnson and myself birded Shimek state forest
in Lee and Van Buren Counties.  We tallied 92 species which included 6
Red-breasted Merganser, 2 Ruddy Duck, 2 Coopers Hawk, 1 Red-shouldered Hawk,
1 Broad-winged Hawk, 1 Sora,  3 Spotted Sandpiper, 1 Solitary Sandpiper, 2
Pileated Woodpecker, 2 Great-crested Flycatcher, 2 Bank Swallows, 1 Cliff
Swallow, 12 Blue-gray Gnatcatcher, 4 Grey Catbird, 10 White-eyed Vireo, 1
Blue-winged Warbler, 2 Nashville Warbler, 6 Northern Parula, 3
Yellow-throated Warbler, 24 Ovenbird, 2 Northern Waterthrush, 2 Common
Yellow-throated, 1 Yellow-breasted Chat, 2 Rose-breasted Grosbeak, 4 Indigo
Bunting, 1 Lark Sparrow, 6 Henslow's Sparrow, 1 Swamp Sparrow, 1
White-crowned Sparrow, and 3 Eurasian Tree Sparrow.  Ray Cummins
