While driving south on Court St. in Carroll just before noon today, I noticed in the distance a large bird flying in a westerly direction from an apartment building on one side of the street to a smaller building on the opposite side. I knew instantly that it was a raptor of some sort. My first thought was that it might have been an accipiter. However, I watched more closely, I realized that the bird in question was something a little different. As luck would have it, the bird perched very conspicuously on a tower right on top of the courthouse! I pulled my jeep into the nearest available parking space and grabbed my 'nocs, and sure enough, it was a Peregrine Falcon!! I was in a hurry to get to work, so I stopped just long enough to make the identifiction. I have no idea whether or not the bird lingered for any length of time.
