Last night, the Chuck-Will's-Widow, was calling at the exact location
that Keith Dyche mentioned back in May along with several
Whip-poor-Will's. On our way down, we stopped at Otter Creek Marsh
in Tama Co. Here we saw 10 species of shorebirds with the noteables
being: 3 Stilt Sandpipers, 1 Golden Plover (also seen on the 9th),
2 Short-Billed Dowitchers.
In Mahaska Co. 2 Gray Partridges flew in front of the car, about
3 miles south of Montezuma on HWY 63.
Today, at Stephen's State Forest, 1 Y.B. Chat, 2 Carolina Wrens, 3
Yellow-Billed Cuckoos, 2 Pileated W.P., and 4 Wood Thrushes.

Good Birding,
Tommy Stone,
Evansdale
