We have also had a titmouse visit a feeder in the last week. We do not have
them often and then usually only in the winter.

Last Saturday on a PSMC foray, we found a small Great Blue Heron rookery at
Wapsipinicon SP with birds still standing on the nests. Also encountered a
hen turkey with fairly small poults for this late in the year. When she
screamed 'run', the poults dived into the nettles and she flapped and
thundered off through the trees.

Even bees are visiting the bird bath these days.

Subject: [ia-bird] Weird Week in Urbandale

This has been a strange week at our yard in Urbandale. We normally don't
see a Titmouse until fall/winter, and hadn't had one in the yard for about
15 years, but one has been hanging around the yard all this week.

Also have a young Copper's Hawk dropping into (literally) the bird bath, the
past few days. Who can blame him?!
