Saturday, July 28, we spotted 200+ white pelicans at the Hawkeye Wildlife
Management area (off Amana Road), along with a dozen or so great egrets
and GB Herons. It seems unusual to be seeing the pelicans at this time --
early migration?

We also encountered a couple of very vocal red-tailed hawks, indigo
buntings galore. Down Greencastle Road from the bridge we observed a
mature bald eagle perched on a dead tree further down river.
