At 1:00 PM today I relocated (or found a different) Black-crowned Night Heron
reported by Jim Forde on Aug. 4th. The bird was in the species' traditional
location, on a pylon along the far shore beyond the lighthouse island. On the
island itself: Lesser Yellowlegs (2), Semipalmated Plover (1), Spotted
Sandpiper (1), and many Killdeer -- a veritable shorebird bonanza here in
habitat challenged Linn County.
Flying over the main lake were 3 juvenile Black Terns and several
D.C. Cormorants.
