Thanks to the magic computer of Ann Johnson, of Indianola, Iowa Audubon has a brand new website, now viewable at www.iowaaudubon.org. The site is not yet entirely completed, so some of the items or links you click on will not take you anywhere at this time. We hope to have those spaces all filled within the next few weeks. Be sure to look at the link to, and map of, Audubon’s Important Bird Areas (IBAs), to find some of the best birding spots in Iowa. If you think you may suffer from lack of Breeding Bird Atlas (BBA) activities as that statewide project now winds up and moves towards publication, think about collecting breeding bird data in the IBAs next year, especially for the “Criteria Species” as listed on the IBA pages. With enough data, some of these sites may eventually qualify to be raised to “Globally Important” status.
Iowa Audubon wishes to express sincere thanks to Dave Edwards, of Ames, as he retires from administering our former website. We greatly appreciate the more than six years of dedicated service he gave to running the website.
