For all of you who live sheltered, spam-free lives, these types of messages are simply hackers. Your mileage may vary on city and country but they all read about the same. It looks like Eric's e-mail was hacked. Not too many of these make it through the list but obviously this one did. The best advice I can give you is that if you see something like this, ask yourself - "Would I write to 850 of my closest birding friends in a general e-mail asking for money, even if I was in dire straits?" Probably not. And if something similar ever happens to you, simply change your e-mail password and you should be fine.

We've been to the Embassy and the Police here but they're not helping issues at all and our flight leaves in few hours from now but we're having problems settling the hotel bills and the hotel manager won't let us leave until we settle the bills. Well I really need your financial assistance..Please, let me know if you can help us out? Am freaked out at the moment!!
