Gerald makes a good point. Two people, during the IOU weekend, wondered why we did not use transmitters when on field trips since it would make it so much easy to let people know in the other cars what was being seen instead of maybe opening a car door a spooking the bird.
We sometimes use them on Loess Hills Audubon Society field trips but not everyone has one or brings it. The new ones are relatively inexpensive and had 5-6 mile ranges. Many of us have cell phones but not all have each other's numbers and you can only call one person at a time.
