Hi Jerry:
I have not made an attempt to find this particular bird, but your
advice is absolutely spot-on!!!! Having the radio message at the
bottom of all IA-BIRD emails is a great thing too.
If/when I chase a mega like the Swallow-tailed Kite, I will strive to
use my radio as you have explained so well. Thank you for your
reminder!
I hope other birders take your message to heart. Perhaps too many of
us have become enamored with texting and cell phones when used
according to instructions a radio can be more effective in aiding a
large number of birders, most especially where cell phone coverage is
deficient.
Alas, I'm glad you saw this bird.

the messenger had no idea who might be found at the locations or if
he missed anyone. We don't register at these rare bird locations
so maybe we could do a better job of communicating.. The messenger
made it possible for me to see the bird but I don't think that
everyone was that lucky.
