Headed out from Sioux City at 4:00AM Sunday with Black-throated Blue and
Western Sandpiper on my target list.  Great day of birding with Diane Pesek and
Jim Forde!

14 species of warbler is probably my high Fall count (western Iowa seems a
little stingy with fall warblers). Black-throated Blues were raining all around
me:  1 at Greenbelt Lake, 2 in Solan, and 2 in Squaw Creek! Wow!  Now I do not
wish to brag but I managed, with some very careful planning, to successfully
AVOID every last one of them.

Western Sandpiper was seen.  It was the closest bird to me when I got out of my
vehicle at Swan Lake.  Great looks at it side by side with a Semipalmated
Sandpiper.  One target bird out the two.

Maybe a Black-throated will break through my defenses tomorrow and force me to
look at it.

New places, great friends, birds flying all about, Swallow-tailed Kites showing
up.  How can it get better than that.

Get out and enjoy.

God Bless,

Paul Roisen
