It has been a gas watching the feeders and the hummingbirds jockeying for position.

A few days ago one male claimed our big feeder and the adjacent butterfly bush.  

Lately something has changed and a male [the same one] is content to sit on the feeder and only defend the feeder.  Unless a bird in the butterfly bush almost touches him, he sits and sips.

Meanwhile on the other side of the butterfly bush, sits a female.  She claims most of the bush and the patio.  There is not much to interest hummers on the patio, except for a niger feeder with a red base.  She defends that, too.
