I have noticed that in Story County there are 2 prairies that have been mowed this fall. One is at McFarland Park by I-35 and also the area on the east side of Story City.
Does mowing now replace burning prairie areas in late winter? We have a few acres of pasture and a small prairie area, so I am curious if management of 'unmowed' grasses has changed.
