Hi I-Birders,
Karen, Cooper, and I walked along the Des Moines River in NW Des Moines
this morning and ran into a good number of migrating passerines. RED-EYED
VIREO were present, as well as a single BLUE-HEADED VIREO. Warblers included
at least a half dozen NASHVILLE, a couple of TENNESSEE and a single WILSON'S.
There were plenty of RB GROSBEAKS, one or two LEAST FLYCATCHERS, a few INDIGO
BUNTINGS, and a couple of RT HUMMINGBIRDS. The river itself had a BELTED
KINGFISHER and a couple of DC CORMORANTS. It was a birdier walk than we were
expecting. Also, just moments ago there was a SWAINSON'S THRUSH in our back
yard.
