There's still awesome mudflats and sandbars off the south blacktop at Union Sough NWR, Kossuth Co., although today a stiff breeze rocked the vehicle and shook the scope. Shorebird numbers are winding down, but there was a good variety, including 10-12 Golden Plovers. About 25 Pipits were off the south side, and I found another flock of a dozen later in the day south of Algona. Only one gull and no terns passed view while I was at the refuge (they must all be at Saylorville), and most herons/egrets were either gone or around the bend to the north.

At Riverview Cemetery in Algona, Saturday's Pine Siskin isn't alone (they seldom are!)- 23 were together on the east side Saturday morning.
