A few hundred have been hanging out on the sand bars near Saulsbury Muscatine
County Park on the
Cedar River for at least a week. Also still a few hundred at the shallow end
the Coralville Rez as of today. Saw marauding bands of coots foraging on the
bank, acting like chickens. "Mud hens", of course. Several hundred tree
swallows hit the water around the kayak at once, stirring up the carp. Quite
the commotion. Watched a little sora for a bit.
