Dennis Thompson called this morning to report that he found a Yellow Rail this morning at Errington Marsh, which is 2 miles south of Elkhart in Polk County. From the intersection of 110th Avenue NE (an east/west gravel road) and 56th Street NE (a north/south paved road), the bird was seen in a weedy field just southwest of that intersection.

Along the NORTH side of 110th Avenue NE, about 80 yards west of the intersection, there is a point where a "picked"soybean field meets a weedy field. At this point, we walked into the weedy field SOUTH of 110th and walked south-southwest toward some cattails. The rail flushed and flew a short distance toward the cattails.

Thanks to Dennis for finding this great bird!
