Shortly after the turn of the century, on a lovely October day, Pete Wickham
and I enjoyed a 14 sparrow species day, all within the confines of Wickiup Hill
Natural Area in Linn County. Today I made an attempt to duplicate this feat.
Absent Pete's birding karma, I failed miserably, tallying a mere
7 species of Emberizids today
( one LeConte's offered slight solace ).

So, the obvious question: How will the Cubs do next year?
