Any species with three asterisks (***species***) would represent a first record for Iowa (UNRECORDED) and should be observed and documented very carefully. Species with two asterisks (**species**) are species that are either ACCIDENTAL, CASUAL, or a rare regular species, and should also be documented. Species with one asterisk (*species) should have some details of the observation provided. *NORTH CENTRAL:* * * HARDIN COUNTY: 6 COMMON REDPOLLS were seen near Caulkins Campus on the 8th. FRANKLIN COUNTY: 47 WHITE-WINGED CROSSBILLS and 3 RED CROSSBILLS were seen at the Hampton Cemetery along Highway 65 on the 8th. HANCOCK COUNTY: 6 WHITE-WINGED CROSSBILLS were seen at the Garner Cemetery on the 9th. * * * * *EAST*: JACKSON COUNTY: A SNOWY OWL was seen at the corner of 127th Ave and 283rd St. on the 1st. CLINTON COUNTY: RED CROSSBILLS were seen at Springdale Cemetery on the 5th. RED CROSSBILLS were seen at Eagle Point Park on the 5th. SCOTT COUNTY: RED CROSSBILLS were seen at Fairmount Cemetery on the 6th. A SURF SCOTER was seen on the Iowa side of the Mississippi River on the 6th. A THAYERS GULL and a LESSER BLACK-BACKED GULL were seen at Lock and Dam 14 on the 6th. LINN COUNTY: 12 RED CROSSBILLS were seen at Cedar Memorial Cemetery on the 7th. DUBUQUE COUNTY: RED CROSSBILLS were seen at Linwood Cemetery north of Dubuque on the 9th. *NORTHEAST:* * * ALLAMAKEE COUNTY: 50 RED CROSSBILLS and a WHITE-WINGED CROSSBILL were seen in Waukon on the 9 th. 2 GOLDEN EAGLES were seen along County Rd A26 on the 9th. 2 WHITE-WINGED SCOTERS were seen at Lock and Dam 9 on the 9th. * * * * *SOUTH CENTRAL*: MARION COUNTY: 2 BLACK SCOTERS and a SURF SCOTER were seen at Red Rock on the 2nd. *CENTRAL:* * * *POLK COUNTY:* *2 PACIFIC LOONS were seen at Saylorville on the 3rd.* * * *A SPOTTED TOWHEE was seen at Saylorville on the 4th.* * * *A LONG-TAILED DUCK was seen at Saylorville on the 4th.* * * *A late BARN SWALLOW was seen at Saylorville on the 7th. It was last seen on the 9th along with a RED CROSSBILL.* * * *STORY COUNTY:* *A WHITE-WINGED CROSSBILL was seen in a Nevada yard on the 7th.* * * *2 WHITE-WINGED CROSSBILLS were seen in an Ames yard on the 7th.* * * * * * * * * *SOUTHWEST:* * * *FREMONT COUNTY:* *5 COMMON REDPOLLS were seen on 390th Ave just south of Highway 2 on the 9th .* * * * * * * * * *WEST:* * * *POTTAWATTAMIE COUNTY:* *2 GOLDEN EAGLES were seen at Hitchcock NA on the 7th.* * * * * * * * * *NORTHWEST:* * * *DICKINSON COUNTY:* *3 SURF SCOTERS were seen at Spirit Lake on the 3rd.* * * *PALO ALTO COUNTY:* *2 SURF SCOTERS and a THAYERS GULL were seen at Lost Island Lake on the 3rd. * * * *CLAY COUNTY:* *A LESSER BLACK-BACKED GULL was seen at Trumbull Lake on the 4th.* * * *OBRIEN COUNTY:* *A TOWNSENDS SOLITAIRE continues to be seen along 470th St in the Waterman Creek area on the 4th. A GOLDEN EAGLE was also seen in this area.* * * *KOSSUTH COUNTY:* *A WHITE-WINGED CROSSBILL was seen at Riverview Cemetery on the 7th.* * * *HUMBOLDT COUNTY:* *2 COMMON REDPOLLS were seen in Ottosen on the 8th.
