Yesterday morning a lonely male Yellow-headed Blackbird was at Dan Green Slough in Clay county and a flock of eight Brewer's Blackbirds with two dark-eyed females were also on the mudflats. A rather late Am Golden Plover was still in the area with a single Least Sandpiper and two Pectorals. Two Rough-legged Hawks were working the same area of the Little Sioux River valley, and west of Peterson there were 31 Bald Eagles mostly immature congregating on a bend in the river and soaring above a nearby ridge line. The Townsend's Solitaire was at the same location along 470th St. shortly after noon but could not be relocated several hours later when Tom Johnson and I went looking again. Waxwings were also darned uncooperative with the significant south wind and I could not find one flock to search through for Bohemians the whole day. It was a very nice day to be out, however and I enjoyed myself.
