Received a phone call from rural mail carrier indicating a Prairie Falcon between Emmet and Eastland on 290th so took a little time off to go see (previous report of Prairie Falcon at Sioux Jersey Dairy location remains unconfirmed).
I was not able to relocate the PRFA though it was seen in that area last year by Keith Dyche. Hopefully, it will resurface before the end of 2012. Three flocks of Lapland Longspurs 130 60 and 35 (estimate) Red-tailed Hawk 1 Rough-legged Hawk Owego 1 South Luton WPA 1 Short-eared Owls were all over today. Many were perched on corn stalks and along the edges of Owego (8) and North Luton (5--most I have ever seen at one time there) and 1 in a cornfield west of Owego. Northern Harrier Owego 4 S Luton 1 N Luton 4 Great Horned Owl 1 Horned Larks seem almost non-existent late fall but I did have 1 today Northern Shrike 2 Owego 1 N. Tree Sparrow, European Starling (guessimate 3200), WB Nuthatch, BlueJay, Am Crow, and Rock Pigeon also made appearances. A Snowy Owl floating around Monona County was not relocated either.
