Hi Birders,

Ten birders attempted to stay dry and participated in the Red Rock CBC
today. Based on preliminary results, we tallied 77 species which is about
average for this count. Notable finds included a Western Grebe, Thayer's
Gull, Red-shouldered Hawk, Merlin (Prairie subspecies), Pileated Woodpecker
(a first for this count), and a large mixed flock of blackbirds including
Red-winged, Rusty, and Brewer's. Notable misses included Great Blue Heron,
accipiters, Wilson's Snipe, Eastern Screech Owl, Lapland Longspur, and
meadowlark. The mild temperatures made for pleasant day of birding despite
the rain. A big thanks to all those that participated!

Take care,

Tyler Harms
