Briefly hit the SE corner of Dallas and then worked a little on Madison County. 30 species for the day Madison 27 Dallas 11 Best birds were: Northern Shrike 2 (M)--yes, I did check for Loggerhead possibilities! Ring-necked Pheasant 3 (M) Belted Kingfisher 1 (m.) (M) Tufted Titmouse (D) 300+ Dark-eyed Junco 108 Wild Turkey (all in Madison) American Tree Sparrow were quite difficult to find today for some reason. Misses: American Robin Expected to run into some of the field birds on the road edges but no luck with any of the following. Horned Lark Lapland Longspur Snow Bunting Dark and dreary but still nice to get out and gather some data for the winter report. My wife reminded me that 2012 "birding" has only 5 days left. I am not sure if she was pushing me to finish strong or suggesting that I was gone too much in 2012! Maybe a little of both! She is a keeper!
