After numerous trips to Dunbar Slough, I finally spotted a couple of
Short-eared Owls. I saw one north of the junction of N58th and 270th ST. Go
north until you cross a small bridge (maybe 1/4 mile). The owl was perched on
a duck house on the east side of the road.

The other one was seen by parking on a hilltop about 1/2 mile north of the
Junction of E57 and B Ave. Look to the west - northwest about 1/4 mile across
the wetland. It was perched on top of a duck nesting structure.

These two sites are only a couple of miles apart. Both are in western Greene
County south of Ralston.
