This afternoon I found my first Northern Shrike in over 20 years on a power line just north of Hwy 2 on Ironwood Road in Page County. This was a Gray 1st winter as seen in Sibley's. I had a good look at the bird and was able to pick up many of the features such as the yellow lower mandible and barring on the chest. I had not been searching for 20 years for another Northern Shrike, it just happened to take that long. True confessions. Dan Dorrance Red Oak
