I received a call from the Wildlife Care Clinic yesterday that the American Bittern that Danny Stark found in Ames on March 7th has been doing quite well in their care and has put on 150 grams since its arrival 13 days ago, and they are planning on releasing it when the weather becomes a bit more hospitable to American Bitterns. I was a bit surprised at the news considering the poor shape the bird was in but the surprise was definitely a good one!
