Two coots observed sitting on bent tree branches that were hanging in the river. Also possible pied-billed grebe in same vicinity. Only got a quick look as he disappeared when I returned from getting book from house. Kinglets also out. Observed male & female ruby-crowned and a lone male golden-crowned. First warbler seen in the trees in yard today...yellow rumped warbler. Observed a yellow-bellied sapsucker making holes in our maple tree and surprised a belted kingfisher who was sitting on the lower bank by the river when I approached the top of the bank. Altogether, not a bad day considering everything observed in about 10 minutes time.
