Sort of a soggy day today. I was happy to see 9 Purple Finches on my
feeders today, males and females. Also in Ottosen, in a set of lots that
have been used for hay/alfalfa production there were 5 Greater Yellowlegs
in one of the puddles and surprisingly with them was a single Lesser
Yellowlegs which gave a nice opportunity to note the difference in size,
and bill structure of the two species. Also found

At the Grotto a pair of male Scaup were sitting with the resident T-swans
and down at the pond near the retirement village a flock of ~50 N.
Shovelers were feeding with a handful of scaup and a few Hooded
Mergansers. The 'duck pond at Banwart Prairie is partially recharged and
the ditches are flooded, hoping to find some snipe there soon. I will have
to make a trek out to the potholes sometime this week if they are
accessible.
