I just got back from Cedar Lake. Thanks Michele for that location! I
parked at the main lot with the shelter, seriously 200m yard dashed it to
the Snowy, got some pictures of it before a giant sheet of rain came in
and swept all the waterfowl, including the Snowy up, up, up and away into
the air. It was my fourth attempt at getting pictures of it out in the
open. Hopefully it headed back to Robbins Lake to be with its Great
buddies.

Earlier at Sycamore Bottoms/Marsh (SE Iowa City) I thought I was scoping
out some Lapland Longspur on the trails leading from the apartments on the
NW side to the marsh. Something was not right about them as they lacked
dark bordering around their auriculars. On the way back to my car I found
a few more on the trail and got some even closer looks. They were Smith's
Longspur still in winter plumage...new lifer.

Bird on,
