I was at the Sand Point Access at Coralville yesterday and there was a MOCKINGBIRD there, making its usual assortment of sound effects. It was just after leaving the parking lot and then a short distance to the east. As I started to walk toward it to get a closer look, it disappeared and I didn't see or hear it again.
Also saw 2 Am. Avocets to the West of the access road and six Am. Golden Plover and several Yellowlegs in standing water on the East side of the access road. There were hundreds of Pelicans at the waters edge and circling around overhead, and lots of ducks and coot. --- Please contribute your sightings to our list; it is only as good as members make it! --- Birding channel recommendation for FRS/GMRS radio use: Primary selection; channel 5/0 , alternate selection; channel 6/0 --- This mailing list is sponsored by the Iowa Ornithologists' Union.
