The first of at least a dozen canda goose nests has hatched in Story City at
the Winfield Solutions ponds [the old Pella Windows plant}.  They were out
toddling through the snow with the adults.

Still have pie-billed grebes, shovelors, and blue wing teal.

Also if anyone happens to see a trumpeter swan with a red neck collar 7K4 I
would appreciate knowing.  She hasn't returned to Tiegs Marsh after a bad year
last year. At least I haven't seen her there. Did see an unmarked pair there so
I am not sure if she has gotten kicked off the sight, doesn't want to go back
after it dried up last year and she lost her mate and all but one cygnet, or
just is looking for a new place.  She has been bothering the captive pair at
Winfield Solutions so I can't let her stay there.  She is in breeding prime so
I would like to see her find a safe place to nest.  Anyway, I would appreciate
knowing if someone finds out where she might be nesting.
