A quick stroll through Hartman Reserve in Cedar Falls after dinner this evening confirmed the arrival of a good wave of warblers today. Warblers were in trees everywhere I looked. I had 12 species in a short time. Although a few yellow-rumped warblers remain, they were greatly outnumbered by American redstarts and magnolia warblers. Among the more abundant species were blackpoll and golden-winged warblers. This seems somewhat unusual to me. I also encountered a flock of Harris's sparrows and a flock of clay-colored sparrows. It was fun to see so many birds in the trees, which are just now starting to leaf out. Visibility into the trees was still fairly good today.
