I ran into John Broz at Hickory Hill around 9:30am. Neither of us were able to make the warbler walk so we hoping for some good, albeit, late AM birds. Highlight was a Black-billed Cuckoo along with a male Mourning Warbler with looks. Seven total warbler species.
Cone Marsh was not too exciting. Highlights were a pair of Mute Swans and a pair of Sandhill Cranes. I watched the pair squawk at some nesting CANG and then took off only to circle around and then buzz 50 feet over my head. This is the second time this has happened this year. It was basically deja vu. Lastly, need help I.D.ing this bird. I'm stumped. http://www.flickr.com/photos/closebirdencounters/8808841080/ Thanks, Brandon Caswell Cedar Rapids --- Please contribute your sightings to our list; it is only as good as members make it! --- Birding channel recommendation for FRS/GMRS radio use: Primary selection; channel 5/0 , alternate selection; channel 6/0 --- This mailing list is sponsored by the Iowa Ornithologists' Union.
