As others are reporting scant hummingbird numbers I will report
extensive activity at my 3 yard feeders. They've been unusually busy
since arrival time in late April with a surge about the 3rd week of
July. I guessed thisto be from local fledglings. Again, this
weekend it seems like more are present. I usually see this uptick at
the start of the fall migration about this time yearly. Much
buzzing and fainting as they jostle for an open port at the feeders
as they put on weight for the long haul migration. I'm putting out
2+ qts of sugar water nectar daily.
At busy times I can countimate 15-20 at or hovering near the feeders
with more in the trees and shrubs; a continual stream of coming and
going.

This week I have noticed more hummingbirds at my feeder. I have been
seeing 3 all summer, this week there are 6. Also they are fighting with
each other. Could they be heading south?
