Our ponds at Beaver Bottoms Wetlands are drying up, and one in particular has
attracted large numbers GB Herons, as the last of the food source crowded into
the vanishing waters. Last w/e I slipped into a photo-blind 1 1/2hrs before
sunrise and was surprised to see birds in the water, and fishing under a moon
that was about 80% full. I wondered if this was rare, but my research showed
this to be not all that uncommon, where lighting is sufficient.

When I walked back to my truck (mid-morning) I found a hen turkey and 5
youngsters standing in front of the front bumper. They saw me before I saw
them, so I didn't get a chance to see what they were doing, but I wondered if
they were picking road-killed bugs off the front bumper?!

Nature never ceases to surprise me!
