Wednesday, Lake Red Rock was occupied mostly by Ring-billed Gulls
but many terns were also present. Black Terns were the most numerous
followed by Forster's, Caspians, and 6 COMMON TERNS. The only other
notable birds I saw were 3 WILLETS near the beach.
Stopping at Otter Creek Marsh (Tama Co.)I found the east side dry but
the west side and barn area still had substantial water. Hundreds of
pelicans and puddle ducks, 50 Great Egrets and 24 Sandhill Cranes were
present. Shorebirds weren't abundant but I counted 10 species including a
lone AMERICAN AVOCET.
