Sometimes it pays off big time to be in the correct place and the correct time.

Sat. Nov. 9, a few miles north of Brownsville, TX and a few miles inland from
Gulf of Mexico, an Amazon Kingfisher (second U.S record) was observed by my
wife & I along with several hundred participants at the 20th annual Rio Grande
Valley Birding Festival.

Just prior to the festival I found a Yellow-Green Vireo, a Golden-Crownded
Warbler, and a Painted Redstart among 140+ more typical "Valley" specialties.
But we also missed a Fork-tailed Flycatcher during a total of 4 different
tries. Correct places, wrong times for that one.
