This morning there were about 1,000 Tundra Swans in the Mississippi backwater
along Red Oak Road just South of Lansing. They were a lovely sight in the
morning sunlight.
Bill Scheible and I looked for Golden Eagles in the Upper Iowa River Valley
along A26 in the afternoon. We didn't have any luck, so we went exploring. We
found a lovely dead end road. You can find it on Google Maps by typing in
Hartley Drive, Allamakee County. We saw one soaring immature Golden Eagle
along this road and we would definitely recommend it to anyone in the area.
You access it from X-20 to X-6A to Hartley Road.
