We also saw a similar bird in the Des Moines area as we were heading east on I235, headed towards Lake Red Rock to see the Ross's Gull. The hawk was perched on a light pull near exit 8? No place for a quick turn around to take a closer look.

It will make up the final entry on my fall field report! Tomorrow I am headed for West Lake Okoboji to see what water birds are still hanging around.
