Took the "long cut" home to Fairfield today after spending Thanksgiving with my mom in Minnesota and stopped at Moorehead Park in Ida Grove. Birder/photographer Don Poggensee met me there and with his expert guidance he showed me three owls within 30 minutes. One was the exquisitely small and beautiful saw whet owl, the other two were was a long eared owls. It was a GOOD DAY.
