The last I know of the Ross's Gull being seen was mid afternoon Saturday Dec. 7 on the mostly frozen lake, scoped from the visitor's center. We couldn't relocate it later in the afternoon.
Today, Monday Dec. 9th - mostly from the spillway Lesser Black-backed gulls - 2 Glaucus - 2 Bald Eagles - 170+ with binos from the old bridge A lone DC Cormorant RB Gulls - very abundant Herring Gulls - enough Shad - abundant food source Roads good. If the road heading downhill to the spillway is blocked (although plowed) it means enter at your own risk, hope you can make it back up the hill, call a wrecker if you can't make it. We didn't try our luck. Jaarsma's Bakery -Pella Chocolate Glazed - 2 Apple fritter - 1 Cookies - 1 doz. Windmill bread - 1 loaf Tom Schilke - Waterloo --- This mailing list is sponsored by the Iowa Ornithologists' Union.
