Hi Jim:

You sound like a multi-skilled renaissance man! Much of your experience would surely be of help.

This thread of emails is still rather fresh. Shall we wait a bit to see who else will offer their talents and a little time?

Early next week I will visit with our local nursing home director to see what he knows what laws and regulations, if any, might impact helping people experience birds more fully at such facilities. Dr. Tallamy's book on how and why to use native plantings is superb, and I hope to attend his presentation at Kirkwood CC Tuesday evening.

The more I think about this opportunity to share birds with those who are less fortunate, the more I feel a concise guidance booklet for care facilities would be a good way to proceed. Something could be drafted fairly easily using available references for bird feeding; native plantings for food/cover; use of nest boxes; etc. If drafts could be emailed back and forth, a reasonable product might emerge in a short while. ( There is a very superb photographer/writer among those listed in the "to" line above! And I KNOW others with excellent communication skills are subscribers to IA-BIRD. ) I'd be happy to seek sponsors for a colorful cover, and for printing multiple copies.

Surely other birders will have helpful ideas. Let's hear from others. . . . . .
