Only a thousand Snow Geese. I think they prefer their water liquid. Six deer crossed a hundred yards of ice. They did fine but I saw one go through a few years back. She lunged back onto the ice and was shaking off water in about one second. A single gull came up behind me as I was walking, passed over me about 10 feet up, and proceeded on up the levee. Gulls that I know just don't do that. It was a BLACK-LEGGED KITTIWAKE, a personal first. We were 300 yards south of L&D #17. Another first for me was the sound effects made by fifty frolicking male Common Mergansers. The cumulative effect of their croaking was an odd sound reverberating up and down the Mississippi.
