Ahhh, spring break. I made some hot chai, took a banana & a yogurt and went out looking for birds this morning. Some quiet, nature time was the perfect thing for my break. The bird blind at Walnut Woods was great fun, and on my way out of the park I saw some Canada geese and Common Mergansers on the river so I stopped to take a better look. As I was standing on the shore, I looked up and saw that in the nearest tree to me a beatiful Bald Eagle was perched at the top. Great moment. After reading all the great posts on this list from people at Maffitt Res, I thought I definitely wanted to see if I could see anything, despite not haaving a scope. I saw FOY brown-headed cowbirds as well as several Bluebirds. Life-listers for me: Lesser Scaups, Buffleheads, Green-winged Teal, Redheads, Canvasbacks. 32 species overall in the morning. Who knows what the afternoon will bring.
