My husband and I just got back from a walk to Sand Lake. Juncos, Titmice, a ETS, a Downy Woodpecker, and a pair of Red-breasted Woodpeckers on the way down along the river (also a beaver under the highway right there). Plenty of Killdeer, Ring-Billed Gulls, Bufflehead, Lesser Scaup, a flock of Pelicans flying over. There were also several Herring Gulls, a pair of Northern Shovelers, two male Red-breasted Mergansers, an American Tree Sparrow, and something that looked suspiciously like a Mississippi Kite. Of course it showed up right after I had put my camera away and quickly few past... But it was gray, some rufous above, and I thought I saw a small mask. If anyone nearby wants to go by and check me on that, that would be good because I only got a quick look at it before it was too far away to ID. It initially flew from east to west across the lake, then north across the highway. This was about 5 pm.
