Birding excitement started at 4am in Oxford. 2 Barred Owls (in courtship outside my bedroom window!) Ruby-throated Hummingbird after sunup (I don't have a feeder) Baltimore Oriole (and I don't feed for them, either) Gray Catbird hanging out as close as six feet from me for two hours as I mowed! (My yard must be nesting territory this year)
The Barred Owls are capable of more than the classic call, "Who cooks for you, who cooks for you, all." During courtship they coo like doves...only much louder. They also make a buzzing noise.
