At Manhattan-Robbins Lake Park in Cedar Rapids this morning I got a sort but good look in excellent light of a tern in flight. It had uniform gray wings with a darker tip. It had no silvery white upper wing highlights like the ones I saw on the flock of Forsters a couple of weeks ago at Sandy Beach. Even though the view was sort, based on this I believe it was a Common Tern.
I also saw 2 Common Nighthawks sleeping along branches in the park. I saw one yesterday morning and found it in the same spot this morning. Then I saw another one in the tree next to it. I think I got some good pictures. I will find out tonight. --- This mailing list is sponsored by the Iowa Ornithologists' Union.
