Brandon Caswell, James Huntington and I spent some time birding in the Quad Cities Friday. We didn't come up with new gulls or waterfowl that had not been previously reported but did see some of last week's birds reported from the area. Gull numbers during the day aren't very high yet, probably many more there in the evening when they come in to roost. We did not stay that long. Duck numbers are at a few hundred, not very high either. Common Goldeneyes and Mallards were most numerous. The river has a lot of open water still with some iced areas.
Sightings yesterday included a 1W GLAUCOUS GULL at Centennial Park in Davenport. At Wapello and Concord near Credit Island: --Long-tailed Duck --Red-shouldered Hawk --1 Wilson's Snipe --2 Killdeer --1 American Pipit Diana Pesek Cedar Rapids --- This mailing list is sponsored by the Iowa Ornithologists' Union.
